Interphase — Free written notes for Biology - 9TH on EduFlame Pakistan.
Interphase is the longest stage of the cell cycle in which a cell prepares itself for division.
General Activity:
In this stage, the cell is not actively dividing, but it is very busy carrying out normal life activities. The cell grows in size, performs its functions, and gets ready for the next steps of division.
DNA Replication and Preparation:
During interphase, the most important work is the copying of DNA so that the cell can later divide properly. The cell also produces proteins and other materials that are needed for growth and division.
Phases of Interphase:
Interphase is divided into three parts called G1 phase, S phase, and G2 phase, where the cell first grows, then copies its DNA, and finally makes final preparations for division.
