Cell Theory — Free written notes for Biology - 9TH on EduFlame Pakistan.
Cell theory is a very important idea in biology that explains what all living things are made of and how life works at the smallest level. It tells us that everything in life is connected to cells.
Scientists Behind Cell Theory:
This theory was developed by scientists like Matthias Schleiden and Theodor Schwann, who studied plants and animals under microscopes and noticed something very important. Schleiden observed that all plants are made of cells, and Schwann discovered that all animals are also made of cells. Later, another scientist, Rudolf Virchow, added an important idea that new cells come from existing cells.
Main Ideas of Cell Theory:
Cell theory has three main ideas. First, all living organisms are made of one or more cells. This means whether it is a tiny bacteria or a large human, everything is built from cells. Second, the cell is the basic structural and functional unit of life, meaning all life processes happen inside cells. Third, all cells come from pre-existing cells, meaning new cells are produced when old cells divide.
Example to Understand:
You can think of cell theory like the foundation of a building. No matter how big or complex a living organism is, it is always built from cells, just like a building is made of bricks.
This theory is very important because it helps us understand that life begins and works at the cellular level.
