A molecule is formed when two or more atoms are chemically bonded together. Molecules can consist of atoms of the same element or different elements.
Examples:
H₂ (Hydrogen gas): Two hydrogen atoms bonded together — same element.
H₂O (Water): Two hydrogen atoms + one oxygen atom — different elements.
CO₂ (Carbon dioxide): One carbon + two oxygen atoms.
O₂ (Oxygen gas): Two oxygen atoms bonded together.
Compound:
When a molecule contains atoms of two or more different elements, it is called a compound.
