A) Simple Sentence

Contains one independent clause (one subject + one verb).

Example:

• Ali reads books.


B) Compound Sentence

Contains two or more independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so — FANBOYS).

Example:

• Ali reads books, and Sara writes poems.


C) Complex Sentence

Contains one independent clause and one or more dependent clauses, joined by a subordinating conjunction (because, although, when, if, since, etc.).

Example:

• Although it was raining, they continued playing.


D) Compound-Complex Sentence

Contains two or more independent clauses and at least one dependent clause.

Example:

• Because she studied hard, she passed the exam, and her parents were proud of her.
